Fruit Magic (Like a Cobbler)
1 can pie filling (we like apple)
1 box Jiffy cake mix (9oz) (or 1/2 a box of yellow cake mix works too)
1 stick butter (I use 3/4 stick)
Nuts, chopped(optional)
Preheat Oven to 350º. Grease a 9 inch pan (or similar). Pie filling on bottom, sprinkle dry cake mix on top. Cut butter into thin pieces and put on top of cake mix, add nuts. Bake 55 to 60 minutes. Cool, filling will be hot.

I’ve used this recipe several times and it’s absolutely wonderful. I love the cake mixture on the top, very sweet. Loveeee it!

I have been making this for decades! Yes, first time would have been in the early ’70’s. Even my finicky brother likes it. Nowdays I have altered the recipe a bit. I use a slightly larger pan, about 8×12, 2 cans of pie filling [I especially liked one of apple, one of cherry], about a cup of walnuts chopped, and only 1/2 a stick of butter, cut very thin. Almost healthy! I also prefer using the white cake mix.
Spread the word. Everybody should have the makings in the pantry and freezer [freeze the nuts and they last a long time], for when friends drop by.
