Yes, first time would have been in the early &#039;70&#039;s.  Even my finicky brother likes it.  Nowdays I have altered the recipe a bit.  I use a slightly larger pan, about 8x12, 2 cans of pie filling [I especially liked one of apple, one of cherry], about a cup of walnuts chopped, and only 1/2 a stick of butter, cut very thin.  Almost healthy!  I also prefer using the white cake mix.Spread the word.  Everybody should have the makings in the pantry and freezer [freeze the nuts and they last a long time], for when friends drop by.</description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have been making this for decades!
